Automotive significance

The 1952 championship was run to Formula 2 regulations, and Ferrari’s two-litre 500 proved exceptionally effective. Ascari’s Nürburgring win followed victories in Belgium, France and Britain and mathematically secured the title. Ferrari did not win a Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship in 1952 because that award did not yet exist; it was introduced in 1958.
