Automotive significance

Ascari’s 1953 campaign included victories in Argentina, the Netherlands, Belgium, Britain and Switzerland. His second title confirmed that Ferrari’s early World Championship strength was not limited to a single season. As in 1952, the championship was run to Formula 2 rules and there was still no separate Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship.
