FCA Announces the Separation of Ferrari

29 October 2014

On 29 October 2014, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced its intention to separate Ferrari from FCA through a public offering of part of its holding followed by a spin-off of the remaining interest to FCA shareholders.

Automotive significance

The announcement began the corporate process that would change Ferrari from an FCA-controlled subsidiary into a separately listed company. The separation was not completed in 2014: restructuring and the New York listing followed in 2015, with the final spin-off taking effect in January 2016. Project Apex therefore treats 29 October 2014 as the start of the separation process, not the date Ferrari became independent.
