Automotive significance

Powered by a 1,995 cc Colombo V12, the 166 Inter helped separate Ferrari’s growing road-car activity from its pure competition machinery without abandoning the same technical roots. Later 250 GT development can be traced back through this small-volume Inter lineage, making it an important step toward a repeatable grand touring business rather than one-off racing projects alone.
