Automotive significance
After several years without a comparable V12 four-seat model, the 456 GT re-established the front-engine 2+2 as a modern Ferrari product. Its new V12, electronically controlled suspension and aerodynamic body represented a clear break from the long-running 365 GT4 2+2, 400 and 412 family. The car also foreshadowed Ferrari’s renewed confidence in front-engine V12 packaging during the 1990s.
