The Enzo Brings Formula 1 Concepts into a New Ferrari Flagship

October 2002 — Paris Motor Show

Ferrari presented the Enzo at the Paris Motor Show in October 2002. The carbon-fibre flagship used a 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 producing 660 CV and integrated a range of technologies developed through Ferrari’s Formula 1 programme.

Automotive significance

The Enzo represented a different technical direction from the turbocharged GTO and F40 and the naturally aspirated F50. Its carbon-fibre structure, push-rod suspension, electronic vehicle-dynamics integration and F1-derived carbon-ceramic brakes reflected a closer systems-level transfer from contemporary competition engineering. Ferrari originally planned 399 examples, later building a 400th car for a charitable initiative. Project Apex avoids the literal shorthand that it was simply a Formula 1 car made road legal.
