Automotive significance
The F2002 combined a 3.0-litre V10 with a seven-speed electro-hydraulic transmission and an aerodynamically refined chassis. Its significance is best expressed through documented results rather than retrospective superlatives: Schumacher scored 144 points to team-mate Rubens Barrichello’s 77, while Ferrari scored 221 constructors’ points to Williams-BMW’s 92. Project Apex therefore describes the F2002 as a competitive peak without claiming it was objectively the greatest Formula 1 car ever built.
