The Purosangue Creates Ferrari’s First Four-Door, Four-Seater

13 September 2022 — Lajatico

Ferrari unveiled the Purosangue on 13 September 2022 as the first four-door, four-seater car in the marque’s history, powered at launch by a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12.

Automotive significance

Ferrari had built 2+2 grand tourers for decades, but the Purosangue introduced a genuinely new body architecture with four independently accessible seats and rear-hinged rear doors. Ferrari itself avoids classifying the car simply as an SUV and presents it as a Ferrari sports car with greater versatility. Project Apex therefore records the objective first—four doors and four seats—without imposing a disputed category label.
