The Roma Broadens Ferrari’s Modern Grand Touring Range

13 November 2019 — Rome

Ferrari revealed the Roma in Rome on 13 November 2019 as a new mid-front-engined V8 2+ coupé, expanding the range with a more restrained grand-touring proposition positioned between existing Ferrari product concepts.

Automotive significance

The Roma was one of five new Ferrari models presented during 2019 and formed part of a deliberate range-expansion strategy. Although it shared some engineering ancestry with the Portofino, Ferrari presented it as a distinct coupé with its own body, active aerodynamics and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission derived from the new SF90 generation. Its significance lies less in a single technical first than in how Ferrari was widening the kinds of road-car experiences offered under the marque.
