Automotive significance

The title completed the competitive rebuilding begun during the 1990s under Luca di Montezemolo and Jean Todt. Schumacher, Ross Brawn, Rory Byrne and the wider Scuderia organisation had already delivered the 1999 Constructors’ Championship; Suzuka 2000 added the drivers’ crown after a 21-year gap. Ferrari then secured the 2000 Constructors’ Championship at the following race in Malaysia, establishing the foundation for an unprecedented run of team success through 2004.
